All About Mug
Here you will find all about the Mauritius Underwater group; our history, our members and how Mugs runs.
The History of Mug
Mugs was established in 1965 by a group of divers who realised that the most practical and safest way to progress their diving was to do it in as a club. That year members of mugs discovered and surveyed the wreck of HMS Sirius, a British warship sunk during the Napoleonic wars. Click here to read more of the History of Mugs.
Since those beginnings the club has expanded to its current form.
Club Members
Mugs prides itself on the diversity of and depth of its membership. Currently we have over 160 members.

The Mug Club House
Our club house is a historic building in its own right. Built in XXXX it was originally the Station Master's House for the Phoenix Railway Station. Between XXX and XXX Mauritius was crisscrossed by a series of railway lines mainly used for the transportation of sugar cane. However by XXXX road transport took over from the train and the railways disappeared.
Guardians of the Club
The Club House is managed by Abdul and Khris. Abdul joined the club in XXX and Khris in YYY
WEEKLY MEETING
Tuesday night is club night. This is the night when members meet to exchange ideas, arrange diving trips for the upcoming weekend, have a good chat, a beer and a BBQ. It is a very informal gathering and diving visitors or those wishing to find out more about the club are always welcome.
THE BAR

Hot and Cold snacks are served from the bar.
THE BAR-B-QUE

We are fortunate enough to have a substantial BBQ area and operate a “bring-your-own” BBQ every Tuesday night. Simply bring your own food; the club supplies all plates, cutlery and cooking utensils.
PRESNTATIONS
