The MUG Committee 2008/9

   
Phillip Hadley

The Club President
Phillip Hadley

It is the responsibility of the Club President to ensure the smooth running of the club and uphold the image of Mug both in Mauritius and abroad. Phillip became President in 2008, is a Dive Leader and Open-water Instructor.

   

The Vice President
Steve Parish

Steve assits the President in the smooth running of the club and stands-in for him during his absence. Steve became VP in 2008 and is an Advanced Open-water Instructor.

   

The Secretary
Annelise Grobler

The Club Secretary is responsible for maintaining the minutes of each committee meeting and corresponding all club activities to members.

Annelise became Club Secretary in 2006. She is a qualified BSAC Dive Leader and Open-water instructir. She was our most prolific diver in 2006 and 2007 clocking up on avarege a 100 dives a year.

   

The Treasurer
Jean-Loup D'Hotman

It is the reasonability of the Club Treasurer to ensure that the club finances are in order and that the club does not operate at a loss.

Jean Loup became club Treasurer in 2007. He is a qualified BSAC Dive Leader and Open-water instructor and enjoys nothing more than diving in Mauritius and all over the world.

   

The Diving Officer
Cassamjee Buchoo

It is the reasonability of the Diving Officer to ensue that all dives are run in accordance with the club rules. This means safely and within the limits of each individual diver.

Cassamjee became Diving Officer in 2008 after serving as the club president for two years. He is an Advanced Open-water instructor.

   

The Training Officer
Patrick Millar

The Training officer both organizes and supervises all the club training as well as pushing members to extend their diving qualifications.

Patrick became the Training officer in 2005. if not in the club he can be found messing around on his boat or playing with the latest diving gadget.

   

The Equipment Officer
Jackie Pitot

The Equipment Officer is charged with ensure that all the club equipment is serviced and in good working order.

 

   
 

The Entertainment Officer
Johan Sels

The Entertainment Officer is responable for organizing all the club extracurricular activities.

Johan joined the club in 2007 and became entertainment officer in 2008. He previuosly dived in Belgium in near zero tempatures and minimal visability. Johan is a CMAS two start diver.


   

The Diving Member
Guy Lewis

The Diving Member acts a liaison between the club members and the Committee. In addition to expressing their views he assists the Diving Officer i his duties.

Guy leant to dive with Mugs in 2007. He is now quailifed to Sports Diver and will be looking to progess further this year.


   
   

 

 

 


The Mauritius Underwater Group ("Mug") is a scuba diving club based in Mauritius. We meet at our club house in Phoenix, (opposite the Jumbo Hypermarket) every Tuesday night. We can be contacted by email info@mugdiver.com or by phone +230 696 5368

We are a friendly, mixed branch, with an international outlook. We are run by members, for members, on a not-for-profit basis. We welcome all people with an interest in diving, and divers from all training agencies. The Mauritius Underwater Group is a member of the British Sub-Aqua Club (Branch 322) and a member of the Mauritius Scuba Diving Association (MSDA).

Our qualified instructors are accredited to provide scuba diving training and to award internationally recognized qualifications. Like all our members, instructors freely donate their time and skills for the benefit of the club.
