Children below the age of 14 are not allowed on Tuesday nights after 8PM. Over the age of 14 they may come but should not be in the bar.
All children should be controlled as we have some potentially dangerous material about and we do not want an accident.

Members may bring guests a maximum of three times in any one year. If they come more often then it is only fair that they become Temporary members. If they are resident then they should have made up their minds about us (and we them) and should apply to become Diving or Social Members.

The club may be hired by members for private functions. Permission must be sought from the Committee in writing and a booking made in the bookings Book. There are two separate Charges. First for the hire of the club and secondly private arrangements must be made for the staff. Under no circumstances will members be allowed to use their own staff unless it is under supervision of, and with the agreement of, club personnel. Separate rates apply for the club with or without the supply of drinks.

Any gross misbehavior on the part of members will be sanctioned as the committee sees fit. This includes the exclusion of the offending member either temporarily or permanently and the imposition of fines. The accused member shall have the right to defend himself but only in person or in writing. No representation by any third party will be accepted.

Equipment

No unauthorized member may use the compressors under ANY circumstances.

Diving equipment is only available to qualified diving members. In hiring the equipment the member makes himself entirely responsible for the equipment and will be charged for any damage. No discussion will be entered into regarding "previous" damage. When you accept the equipment you are expected to check it and point out any defects in writing. Hire charges can be put on to your bar bill or paid directly.

Oxygen equipment is only available to Dive Managers or Oxygen Administrators agreed by Committee. The Equipment is available in priority for MUG dives. It is also available for private dives if the club does not need it for a club dive, and then only to suitably qualified people at the appropriate fee and DO's agreement.

Depth sounder is available on MUG Dives. It is available at the appropriate fee and with the DO's permission for private dives.

GPS is available on MUG Dives. It is available at the appropriate fee and with the DO's permission for private dives.

Dive Cylinders, BCD's, and weights are available for hire to suitably qualified divers through the Club Manager. Priority will be given to trainees on courses. Others will be on first come first served basis.

Mixes above 40% can be obtained, by special arrangement, but the Cylinder must be Certified as in Oxygen Service by either Les Gas Carbonique, Les Gas Industriele or the Club Gas Blender authorised to do so.

The club reserves the right to inspect any cylinder that may be defective or not in compliance with Oxygen Service whether in date or not. If in the opinion of the visual inspector or Blender it needs a supplementary test then it must be done before it is filled at the club

General Diving Matters

As a general rule we recognize the diving qualifications of the following Training Agencies:
  I

BSAC, CMAS, PADI, SSI, Naui

Technical Diving Qualifications are also accepted as follows:

TDI IANTD ANDI PADI DSAT PSAI

In addition, any of the members of the Recreational Scuba Training Council. We will require the person to provide proof of their qualification and experience to our Dive Officer or Senior Instructor, who may require a check out dive. The Dive Officers decision is final.

All Equivalents are in accordance with the BSAC Table of Equivalents as published on the BSAC website.

NB All divers are expected to dive within the limitations imposed by the Agency that trained them. BSAC limits may not be the same and they will have to limit their dives accordingly

All our new Diving Members are required to become members of the MSDA (Mauritian Scuba Diving Association). They do this by filling out the appropriate forms and having a medical examination by an Approved Doctor. Any Member of the Committee or the Club Manager will give details. This is so that they are covered by the MSDA Insurance scheme.

Any Instruction given in the club must be by Approved Instructors. This generally means BSAC Instructors as we are a BSAC Club.

Once you are enrolled in a training course you are liable for the course fees irrespective of whether you complete the course or not. No refunds will be given under any circumstances.

Dives

Only authorized Dive Managers may put up dives on the board.
The Manager shall have absolute discretion as to who goes on the dive.
The Diving Officer shall have an overriding decision as to who may not go on a particular dive.

If you put yourself down for a dive and are unable to come you will be expected to pay your part of the boat expenses. Of course if you find a replacement and the dive Marshall is agreeable then that person may take your place. You may cancel up to 48 hours in advance without penalty by phoning the Club Staff. This does not apply to offshore or special dives.

You are expected to pay your share of the cost of offshore or special dives if you cancel. This is only fair as these dives have to be arranged far in advance and a commitment made to go. Last minute cancellations are frowned on by the boats and could prejudice our ability to use these boats in the future.
